Terms of Service

These terms are between you and Elie Baier, an individual trading as Kettu, in Switzerland. Using Kettu means you accept them. If you do not, do not use it.

You need to be at least 16 to have an account.

Kettu is being distributed for testing while it is built. Plain words about what that means:

• Features will change, and some will be removed. Something you rely on today may not be here next month.
• It can break, and a build can lose data. We take backups and we take care, and neither is a guarantee.
• Do not keep your only copy of anything important in it. Every idea can be shared out as a zip; if it would hurt to lose it, take one.

You can sign in with Apple, with an email address and a password, or use the app as a guest without an account at all.

If you use Apple, your account is only as secure as your Apple account. If you set a password, keep it to yourself and make it a real one. Either way, tell us at support@getkettu.app if you think somebody else has reached your ideas.

A guest account has no address attached, so nobody can recover it — including us. Lose that session and it is gone with everything in it. If any of it matters, add an address in the app: it keeps everything you have already written.

One person per account. You are responsible for what happens under yours, including anyone you invite into a workspace.

Your ideas, notes and files are yours. Nothing here transfers ownership of any of it, and nothing here gives us the right to use it for our own ends.

You give us one narrow permission, and only so the product can work: to store your content, transmit it to your other devices and to the people you invite into a workspace, and — when you press the research button — send that idea to an AI provider so it can be answered, or, where a cloud model is transcribing your voice notes, send each recording you make to one to be transcribed. That permission covers running the service and nothing else. It ends when you delete the content.

You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload.

Research is produced by AI models reading public web pages. It can be wrong. It can miss a competitor, invent a price, misread a market, or cite a page that does not say what it is claimed to say. That is a property of the technology and not a bug we are about to fix.

So: findings are a starting point for your own work, not a substitute for it. They are not legal, financial, investment or professional advice, and they are not a basis on which to commit money or make a decision without checking. Every finding cites the pages it rests on — read them.

Do not use Kettu to:

• break the law, or help anyone else to;
• store or transmit anything you have no right to, or anything unlawful;
• attack, overload or probe the service, or try to reach data belonging to somebody else;
• resell it, or run it as the engine behind another product, without asking us first.

Automated or excessive research requests may be rate-limited. Those runs cost real money per idea, which is why there is a button rather than an API.

Kettu is free while it is in testing. If it becomes paid we will say so before it does, and you will not be charged for anything you did not agree to. Any purchase made through the App Store is handled by Apple, under Apple’s terms and Apple’s refund policy.

You can stop at any time. Delete Account in the app’s settings removes your ideas, files, workspaces and research, as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close an account that is breaking the acceptable-use section above, or where we are required to. Except where something serious or unlawful is happening, we will tell you why and give you a chance to get your data out.

We may also stop offering Kettu altogether. If that happens you get reasonable notice and time to export.

Kettu is provided as is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that anything research returns is accurate or complete.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost business, or lost or corrupted data — and our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the previous twelve months, which for as long as this is free is nothing.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by anything in this document.

The iOS app is distributed by Apple, but this agreement is with us alone. Apple is not a party to it. Apple has no obligation to provide support for Kettu, and any claim about the app — that it does not work, that it infringes something, that it breaks a consumer-protection rule — is ours to answer, not Apple’s.

Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Kettu is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple Inc.

These terms are governed by the law of Switzerland, and the courts of Switzerland have jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, or of your right to bring a claim there.

We may update these terms. The date at the top moves when the words do. For a change that materially affects you we will give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect; continuing to use Kettu afterwards means you accept the new version, and if you do not, delete your account.
